McCausey Lumber's new Fine Board™ pattern making material is an economical MDF product. The MDF boards are made from wood chips that are ground to a pulp, then mixed with glue and formed under high pressure. The boards havea density of approximately 40lb/ft³.

Fine Boards are easily glued together to form larger block sizes. CNC machining can produce shapes that could be used in a low-run foundry pattern. This method can also produce molds designed for epoxy lay-ups or for a casting of a surface. Red Foundry Board

The McCausey Foundry Board, commonly referred to as "Red Board," is specifically designed to withstand the rigors of metal stamping or other short-run production tooling applications. Similar to our Fixture Board, it too has superior design properties, is easily machined and highly resistant to wear. However, this product is more dense, more durable and has a better heat distortion rating. It is therefore most suitable for foundry patterns and core boxes, in addition to jigs and fixtures.
